Yesterday was World Book Day and there were special events all over the UK. I wonder of you're school had a visiting author, or maybe you all dressed up as book characters - or even both! Or maybe you saw The Biggest Show On Earth, along with 750,000 viewers across the UK. I was there, along with loads of fantastic writers - Andy Stanton, Derek Lundy, Jacqueline Wilson, Nick Sharratt, Eoin Colfer, Cressida Cowell and many others.

I was also lucky enough to visit No 10 Downing Street, along with some children from a local school. I read a story to them and we talked aboiut writing and Mr Cameron came and sat with us and asked lots of questions. After that we were shown the Cabinet Room and we met Larry the No 10 cat. He was very well behaved and sat right in the middle of the table just as if he was in charge -  which he was!

What a day! I hope your day was a good one too.

  • Hi Millie, Good to hear from you and thanks for the question. I started writing stories when I was at school, just like you. I didn't try to get anything published until I was about 21. It was five more years before I got anything published. I was lucky when I was in Y3/4 because I had a great teacher who got me interested in writing. Good luck with your project. Best wishes, Jeremy. posted by Jeremy Strong
  • Dear Mr Strong

A door is a door and this one is not the nicest the world has seen. + I wanted to say that I love your story about the c. puddings invading the world as well as wish to admit that yesterday just outside the Church Hall I sneakily took a photo of you which I'm posting to Facebook. It was rather difficult to get a good view because of all the kids surrounding the table waiting for you to sign for them one of your books. Hope you don't mind. Monika
